We can only start this tale from when we first met Sandy. Sandy was a shelter dog who came in they said as a stray. She seemed on the timid side they said and she was sweet. We went to meet her and she came over to us only when we gently knelt down and called her. Once she came over, she kissed Tuff Tails' Vicki on the nose <3 There was a certain sadness about Sandy that we couldn't quite put our finger on. We did see right away what a wonderful little girl she was and knew we had to help her leave shelter life. We had a foster lined up so now all that was left to do was to have foster mom and pop come to the shelter with their 2 dogs to meet this little darling girl. The visit went pretty well so the following weekend off we went with trainer Steve to do the intro.
Sandy's new life begins. She has a room of her own with her own cozy crate. She is very timid and seems afraid of anything new :( Whoever had her before obviously abused her. She was even a bit concerned with her new brush but trusted foster mom so she let herself be groomed. She loves the company of people and loves to play with one of the other dogs in her foster home. She adores sitting on the floor in someone's lap :) But she still seems a bit sad and often goes running into the safety of her crate if she feels afraid. She is never aggressive in any manner. She longs to feel comfortable and she has made great strides in the last couple of weeks. It was as if she lost all hope of ever being happy because no one was ever good to her. Not sure why anyone mistreats animals. They are our family and deserve the love and respect we all need and want. Sandy's still learning. She's about 4 years old and is very calm and somewhat shy. She's as smart as a whip. She loves to eat her meals and does so with gusto - it's fun to watch. Oh! And now when she sees foster mom, pop or grandma, they detect a slight wiggle butt! Yes it's true! We know she needs more time to understand she will never see a shelter or any type of abuse again. She would fit in with any quiet home with someone who wants a friend and companion. She will get along with another dog as long as they are friendly and on the quiet side too because she is too shy at this point. She's a quiet girl who would probably love to be attached to your hip - just think never another lonely night :)
Sandy is spayed and up to date with vaccines. She weighs only about 40-45 lbs. and she's house trained. All she needs and yearns for is a forever, safe home with her people. Don't you want to meet her? She promises to be a good girl because she already is. Give her a chance - she won't let you down and more important, she needs you as much as you need her.
